About Our Opportunity
The Director, Legal Support and Operations, shares accountability and team resources with senior leaders in creating the strategy to achieve the Department’s Strategic Outcomes.
This position is accountable for the success of this unit in delivery of support services to the Legal Services Division. This position oversees two broad business processes: the effective triage of support staff and the general operational support of the Division. It is essential that the incumbent work collaboratively with fellow Divisional Senior Management in all related aspects, including selection of technologies and software, policy development, service standards, work planning, monitoring and metric evaluation and continuous improvement.
This position is accountable to develop clear objectives and deliver results in a fiscally responsible manner, by demonstrating strong leadership skills, strategic direction and by building and supporting a dynamic, competent team that strives for excellence and continuous improvement. The Director sets appropriate expectations and service standards to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of support of the operational environment in which law is practiced.
The Director is required to make decisions based on the analysis of information presented, sometimes in the face of conflicting situations, or when there is associated risk. They are, therefore, required to put systems in place to proactively monitor risk and determine acceptable risk tolerances.
Qualifications and Experience
The Director will be a strategic and innovative leader and change agent with strong interpersonal, communication and technology skills, who excels in a delivery focused environment. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business or public administration; or equivalent.
• Several years of in-depth strategic leadership and management experience.
• Exemplary written and verbal communication and influencing skills with an ability to build relationships in order to forge effective senior level partnerships and operate successfully in a political or complex environment.
• Experience leading and managing a team through change in a complex and continuously evolving work environment and the ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment.
• Experience in project management and facilitating large groups.
• Experience in developing, implementing and monitoring performance indicators or task metrics to support outcomes-oriented decision making at the organizational level.
• Experience in the development, analysis, coordination, and assessment of business cases with a solid understanding of case management technology.
• Experience sourcing and/or supporting infrastructure, technologies, software and hardware necessary for case management support and file management as well as management of physical space.
• Excellent innovation, negotiation, and decision-making skills with a focus on continuous improvement
• The ability to deliver results in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Experience establishing operational strategies with respect to production, productivity, quality, and client-service, evaluating service results and defining systems objectives.
Experience working in a legal environment and/or for government would be considered an asset.

Pay Grade: EC 14
Salary Range: $4,550.68 - $5,688.35 Bi-Weekly
