As the Director of Product, you will be part of a leadership team who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of driver and vehicle services in Nova Scotia. You will work closely with workstream product leads and the executive team to advance modernization design and delivery iniatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the RMVMT, the Director of Product is part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the delivery of modern services for the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

 

  • Providing senior leadership and oversight for the life cycle of RMVMT product development from idea to launch.  

 

  • Creating and executing product strategies, managing product teams and ensuring the product meets the needs and expectations of partners, clients and Nova Scotians.  

 

  • Providing oversight to several workstreams and in collaboration with the Director of Service the Director of Product will generate work plans helping to develop the vision and goals and delivery of products that align with overall objectives of RMV Modernization.  

 

  • Acting as liaison between business partners, communicates product goals and progress with partners and senior leadership and works with Director of Service and Director of Technology to establish metrics and monitoring tools for product success.  

 

  • The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with internal staff from multiple departments including external vendor contracted resources.

 

  • The successful candidate will be expected to perform all activities as proposed to achieve the expected outcomes.

 

  • The successful candidate will work as part of the RMV Modernization Senior Leadership Team and report to the Executive Director for RMV Modernization.

 

  • The successful candidate will provide guidance on the province’s digital delivery best practices, standards, and support internal navigation needs.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge & Skills

  • The position requires excellent written, oral communications and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and management skills are essential. 

 

  • Skills in consultation, team building, process facilitation, business relationships and group leadership are critical to success in this role.

 

  • Ability to develop and deliver modernization outcomes, improving solutions and technologies to optimize business systems, gain operational efficiencies, address technology constraints, meet citizen expectations and support legislative adoption and evolution including integration with other systems.

 

  • In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined in the job description, this job may include other, assignment-specific requirements (ex: French language, drivers license, membership in an employment equity group or security screening, etc.)

 

Education & Experience

  • You have completed a related bachelor’s or master’s degree.

 

  • You have at least 5 years of related experience in product delivery and/or management in a project setting.

 

  • As a leader in a fast-paced environment, strong organizational and management skills are essential to prioritize and direct work under tight deadlines. You exercise sound judgement with diplomacy when under pressure. 

 

  • This role requires an understanding of principles of diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to apply an anti-racist, equity lens to the policy development process.  You will be required to provide guidance to the team in this area and work with the Director of Policy to ensure continuing professional development in equitable policy development. 

 

  • You promote a positive team and collaborative atmosphere and ensure an inclusion and diversity lens is applied in the development and management of strategies, policies, standards, program design, and initiatives.

 

  • You must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (or equivalent).

Additional Information

This is a term, full-time vacancy with an anticipated end date of March 31, 2028. The appointment status (‘term’ or ‘casual’ is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate).
