About Our Opportunity
As a member of the Corporate and Strategic Services (CSS) Division, the Manager, Corporate Services is responsible for a portfolio of corporate programs and services that support the effective operation and resilience of CSDS. As a team, CSS provides strategic and operational support that enables CSDS to advance digital transformation and modernize public service delivery. We align departmental initiatives with government priorities, support corporate responsibilities, policies and processes, and work with partners across and outside government to deliver on the department’s mandate.
A significant focus of this role is managing the department's records and information management and business continuity programs. This includes developing practical approaches, processes and tools, working with teams across CSDS to put them into practice, and overseeing their ongoing operation and improvement.
The role also includes responsibility for the department's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) function. This involves coordinating departmental responses and working with business areas and corporate partners to help ensure requests and related requirements are managed effectively and on time.
The portfolio also includes facilities and other corporate services and priorities, with responsibilities shaped by the evolving needs of the corporate team and department. The work involves collaborating across CSDS and with corporate partners and departments to coordinate and advance these priorities.
This is a hands-on management role for someone who can build and modernize programs and processes, bring structure to complex work, use digital and enterprise tools effectively, and keep multiple priorities moving. The successful candidate will bring an innovative and improvement-focused mindset, think differently about how corporate services are delivered, and translate ideas into practical solutions.
Primary Accountabilities
In this role, you will lead a diverse portfolio of corporate services that help the department operate effectively, remain prepared, and continuously improve. You will provide leadership for the department’s records and information management program, establishing effective processes and practices that support the organization, protection, retention, accessibility, and appropriate disposition of departmental records in alignment with government’s corporate records management program.
You will also lead the department’s business continuity program, working closely with business areas and the Department of Emergency Management to identify critical functions, dependencies, and recovery requirements. You will guide the development and maintenance of business continuity plans and coordinate activities that strengthen organizational readiness and resilience.
As the departmental lead for Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) activities, you will coordinate with business areas and government’s Information Access and Privacy services to support complete and timely responses, maintain effective departmental processes, and ensure appropriate follow-up on requests and requirements.
A key part of your role will be identifying opportunities to modernize and continuously improve how corporate services are delivered. You will assess workflows, processes, and tools and work with enterprise program and system owners to make effective use of digital solutions, automation, and enterprise technologies. Your work will help improve productivity, strengthen information management practices, and create more consistent and efficient ways of working across the department.
You will coordinate facilities and other corporate services and build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues across the department, corporate government partners, and service providers. You will also lead or coordinate cross-departmental initiatives within your portfolio, bringing the right people together, clarifying roles and responsibilities, monitoring progress, resolving operational issues, and helping move work through to successful completion.
