About Our Opportunity


As the Program Specialist you will be responsible for providing specialized and/or administrative and supervisory work in developing government programs.

Primary Accountabilities


You will administer and manage government programs; administer and supervise the mediation of complaints in accordance with departmental policies and government legislation; plan, develop, evaluate, promote and monitor new initiatives. Deliver one or more programs on a tactical level throughout the province.


As the Program Specialist, some of your key responsibilities will include:


  • Providing independent, specialized professional expertise for the administration, management and delivery of government programs,
  • Planning, developing, evaluating, promoting and monitoring new initiatives. Promoting and developing initiatives and programs using current and emerging technology
  • Supporting senior colleagues in the development of internal and external communications
  •  Identifies needs and responds to questions and concerns from various key stakeholders and program users.


As the Program Specialist you will report to the Manager/Director.

Qualifications and Experience


This may be the right opportunity for you if have a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


As the ideal candidate you have previous experience providing policy and program advice including:


  • Analyzing data from multiple sources to draw appropriate conclusions and making suitable recommendations,
  • Costing, budgeting and finance tasks, 
  • Acquiring, organizing, protecting and processing data to fulfill business objectives,
  • Analyzing data trends for use in reports to help guide decision making.


You also have previous supervisory experience including monitoring the work of others.


You possess exceptional communication (written and verbal), relationship building and time management skills to manage, track and attend to multiple pieces of information to bring order and clarity. You demonstrate a strong initiative and are comfortable working independently. Experience working with an external panel of experts, such as an external Advisory Committee would be considered an asset.


We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

This is a term opportunity with an anticipated end date of April 30, 2022; however, the position status (“term”, “temporary” or “casual”) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade:  PR 13  

Salary Range:  $2,384.94 - $2,899.09 Bi-Weekly
