The Status of Women Office focuses on issues and priorities that affect women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals. The Office’ priorities include:
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships internally and externally on priority areas including safety, gender-based violence, economic security, leadership, and community partnerships.
- Administering government’s operational funding of Transition Houses, Women’s Centres, Alice House, and the Nova Scotia Native Women’s Association.
- Contributing to the whole of government response to public inquiries including the Mass Casualty Commission, the Desmond Fatality Inquiry and the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
- Leading Standing Together, Nova Scotia’s coordinated approach to preventing domestic violence, and the Canada-Nova Scotia Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence.
- Supporting women’s economic security and leadership through bursaries, grants, and Campaign Schools for Women
About Our Opportunity
Join the team at the Status of Women Office, as a Project Manager, Canada-Nova Scotia Action Plan to End Gender-based Violence (GBV-NAP), a major initiative of the office.
This role entails working closely with community organizations responsible for delivering projects funded under the GBV-NAP, to ensure adherence to the National Action Plan. You'll be responsible for supporting all tasks related to project consultation, promotion, budgeting, contract management, communications, and project plan development. Your insights will guide projects toward our organizational goals, and your ability to engage community organizations will ensure successful project delivery.

Primary Accountabilities
You will be involved in the administration of programs and services related to the National Action Plan. This includes:
- Managing and delivering project outcomes, including the reporting required by federal counterparts.
- Providing project direction and plans, including scope development, business requirements analysis, procurement advice, methodology selection, and resource management.
- Developing and delivering internal and external communication plans, including ongoing monitoring and reporting.
- Identifying process shortcomings, suggesting improvements, and collaboratively delivering change management plans.
- Managing client, service provider, and project team relationships, with focus on community-based organizations.
Qualifications and Experience
You possess a university degree from a recognized school in business or project management plus several years of related management experience, or an equivalent level of direct and relevant experience will be considered.
You have a passion for and knowledge of issues affecting women, girls and gender-diverse people. You must also demonstrate:
- Proven abilities in managing projects with community-based organizations that achieve results in a complex and changing organization, influenced by a wide range of internal and external demands.
- Previous experience managing multiple projects and deadlines, and the ability to work under pressure, tight deadlines, and changing priorities.
- Effective, articulate, and persuasive communication abilities (written and verbal) along with attention to detail in terms of reading and disseminating information.
- An understanding and experience of change management at the individual and project levels.
The following will be considered assets:
- experience leading change management initiatives,
- event planning and/or coordination,
- experience leading engagements with community-based organizations,
- and experience working with diverse communities.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions
This role is based in a comfortable office environment, and you may be working at your computer for extended periods of time. You may be required to travel to worksite locations.
Your normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day. This role does entail a high volume of work which may require longer than normal working hours and overtime. Due to the multiple spheres of action and scope of responsibilities that this position requires, there is significant mental pressure, requiring resilience.
Additional Information
Anticipated end date of March 31, 2027. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: EC 11
Salary Range: $3,571.99 - $4,465.03 Bi-Weekly
