The Operational Accounting team provides transactional financial services, utilizing a Shared Services model, to the province’s departments, agencies, boards, and commissions. This includes centralized and integrated support and services in areas of payment production, corporate credit card management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, as well as month end, calendar year end and fiscal year end procedures, financial reporting and reconciliations and internal controls for transactional financial services for the province. About Our Opportunity
The Financial Services Division – Operational Accounting is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Purchasing Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your financial expertise in a collaborative environment that values innovation and continuous improvement. This position reports to the Coordinator, Operational Accounting.
Primary Accountabilities
- Timely and accurate execution of a broad range of transactional procurement and accounts payable activities.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the SAP Procurement Module, including the creation and management of purchase orders, amendments, receiving reports, goods receipts, and service entries.
- A solid understanding of the Provincial Public Procurement Policy and departmental guidelines is essential.
- The incumbent ensures that all documentation complies with government policies and standards, and provides guidance on policies, procedures, and financial system usage to client departments, management, and staff.
- The Purchasing Technician is expected to deliver services that are accurate, timely, and responsive to client inquiries.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this opportunity, you hold the following qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in procurement or financial services.
- Expert knowledge of procurement policies.
- Strong grasp of accounting principles related to procurement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems analytically, and manage high volumes of work with precision.
- Adaptability to evolving policies and procedures, with a commitment to enforcing compliance standards.
SAP knowledge would be considered an asset.
We will assess the above qualifications using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: CL 22
Salary Range: $1,934.21 - $2,139.34 Bi-Weekly
