About Our Opportunity

 

Are you ready to lead and make a province-wide impact? As Regional Manager, Legal Services, you’ll drive strategic planning and oversee legal operations across multiple regions of Nova Scotia. Under broad direction of the Director, Legal Support and Operations and other senior management including the Director Legal Services (Family Litigation), you’ll lead a talented team of legal support professionals – legal assistants, paralegals, clerks and administrative staff – while ensuring smooth, efficient, and compliant operations that support the Family Litigation practice group.

In this leadership role, you’ll partner with directors and senior management to shape the Division’s mission, purpose and mandate, and influence key decisions, particularly in the Family Litigation Practice Group. You’ll champion digital transformation, lead change management initiatives, and maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. This is your opportunity to play a critical role in advancing the Department of Justice’s mandate and improving legal services for communities across the province.

Qualifications and Experience

 

The Regional Manager, Legal Services will be a strategic, innovative leader and change agent with strong interpersonal, communication and technology skills, who excels in a delivery focused environment. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Post-secondary degree in business administration, legal studies, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Must have several years experience in legal operations or management within a justice/legal environment
  • Proven leadership experience managing large teams (20+ staff) and complex operations
  • Strong understanding of Civil Procedure Rules of Nova Scotia and provincial legislation pertaining to the Nova Scotia Supreme Court (Family Division)
  • Familiarity with legal case management systems and digital transformation projects
  • Strategic planning, project management and change management expertise
  • Excellent communication, partner engagement and conflict resolution skills
  • Financial acumen for procurement and facilities oversight

Management and leadership experience in a Family Litigation environment is considered an asset.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade:  EC 11 

Salary Range:  $3,501.95 - $4,377.48 Bi-Weekly   

 

The salary rates include an economic adjustment that has been approved.  These rates are effective April 1, 2025.  Implementation in our HR system will occur on March 5, 2026.  Until then, the current rates will apply.  Employees hired during this period will receive retroactive pay adjustments in accordance with the applicable policies.
