The Operational/Financial Management Information Systems (OFMIS) team provides training and hands-on support to the users of the SAP system, working to consistently analyze business issues and identify opportunities to implement improvements and support business enhancements for Public Works users.

About Our Opportunity

 
You will work within the SAP system, with a focus on Public Works and its related entities (Build Nova Scotia and Link Nova Scotia) supporting their strategic systems planning and implementation. In this role, you act as strategic enabler of government wide efficiency and modernization, with influence extending across all departments. You will analyze business challenges and develop, implement and monitor system enhancements to improve functionality and maximize effective SAP utilization for your clients.

 

This position reports to the Manager, OFMIS.

Primary Accountabilities

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Serve as the functional business expert and enterprise steward for SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) and Inventory (MM) modules.
  • Lead complex, multi-year technology enablement initiatives, including planning, resource management, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Balance the operational autonomy with government-wide SAP standards, financial controls, audit requirements, including the enablement of asset management, inventory control, and maintenance strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and develop comprehensive strategic business solutions for system functionality enhancements and/or business transformation solutions.
  • Lead testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex SAP-enabled business process issues that impact critical operational functions.
  • Develop and deliver SAP training (virtual and in-person), applying adult learning principles and creating training materials to enable appropriate system usage, business processes, and accurate financial and operational outcomes.
  • Promote adoption of technology-enabled processes to increase automation and efficiency.
  • Manage client, vendor, and team relationships to deliver services within an established service management framework.
  • Liaise with the external SAP Service Provider, the SAP Service Management team, Public Works (head office and field offices), and other government departments to support operations, enhancements, and issue resolution.
  • Support new SAP module implementations and system upgrades, including UAT participation and training development/delivery.
  • Administer SAP access and role assignments through governance and risk controls to ensure appropriate system access based on job function.

Qualifications and Experience

 

You hold a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of six (6) years of related SAP experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. SAP certification, Business Analyst certification, a background in accounting, and/or experience with government accounting practices and business processes are considered assets.

 

You bring strong technical expertise in SAP, including significant experience with the FI, CO, MM, and PM modules. You have demonstrated experience in system and module support, master and operational data, software testing, and reporting. You clearly communicate complex concepts to support decision-making and apply business analysis skills to develop user-friendly documentation, map processes, and guide teams through change.

 

You have experience delivering training to adult learners, supported by strong attention to detail and well-developed planning and organizational skills that enable effective SAP training delivery and operational support of the team.

 

You are a self-motivated, solutions-oriented professional who communicates effectively, maintains a high standard of client service, and works well both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

 

You exercise sound judgment and demonstrate a high level of integrity, particularly when handling confidential information. You can navigate ambiguity, analyze issues to determine root causes, and build consensus while fostering a positive team environment. You analyze and present information clearly and professionally, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

 

This position requires occasional travel within the Province; a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.

Working Conditions

 

  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
  • May be required to work overtime on occasion.

Pay Grade:  PR 17  

Salary Range:  $3,410.48 - $4,005.58 Bi-Weekly
