About Our Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, DevSecOps, Cloud, the DevSecOps Analyst (Computer Services Officer 3) will provide specialized support services primarily in our OpenShift/GitLab environment. You will ensure the availability, deployment, and maintenance of IT assets in those environments. Working independently and as a team member, you will play a key role in operational support as well as project delivery to ensure a high level of service that allows us to meet or exceed the requirements of our users.
Primary Accountabilities
As the Computer Services Officer 3 (Technical Specialist – DevSecOps Cloud), your primary accountabilities will include:
- Work with clients to securely onboard new services or products in our OpenShift/GitLab environment.
- Work with clients to support design of secure OpenShift/GitLab environment products.
- Monitor and respond to cybersecurity threats in real time.
- Provide support to OpenShift/GitLab environment clients.
- When assigned, act as the technical lead on medium operational or project initiatives.
- Troubleshooting and documenting incidents providing project status and updates to stakeholders.
- Coaching and mentoring teammates and peers on new technologies and processes.
- Work with on-premises support teams such as firewall, DNS and networking teams.
- Maintaining OpenShift/GitLab environment policies.
- Support operational services and monthly maintenance, including downtime and participation in a rotation of 24/7 on-call coverage.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role you will have: a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus a minimum of three years experience; or graduation from a recognized Information Technology program plus 3 years and six months experience; or combined equivalent combination of training and experience. This role focuses on supporting and enhancing our GitLab and OpenShift platforms, with opportunities to contribute to broader cloud platform initiatives (Azure, AWS, GCP) as needed.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Strong willingness to learn, experiment, and adapt to new technologies
- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift)
- Experience supporting CI/CD platforms such as GitLab or GitHub
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes concepts (pods, deployments, services, volumes, namespaces)
- Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines in production environments
- Experience integrating security practices into CI/CD pipelines (DevSecOps)
- Experience with automation and DevOps practices (e.g., scripting, pipeline automation)
- Working knowledge of security and compliance principles in cloud-native environments
- Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language
- Experience supporting mission-critical, highly available (24x7) environments
Nice-to-Have (Preferred) Qualifications
- OpenShift & Kubernetes
- Understanding of OpenShift resources (projects, routes, builds, deployments, ConfigMaps, secrets)
- Experience using OpenShift CLI (oc) and web console
- Experience managing RBAC and secrets in Kubernetes/OpenShift - CI/CD & GitLab
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (build, test, deploy)
- Ability to write and maintain .gitlab-ci.yml pipelines
- Familiarity with GitOps practices and tools (e.g., Argo CD, OpenShift GitOps)
- Strong understanding of Git fundamentals and branching strategies - Containers & Registries
- Experience building and managing container images using Docker or Podman
- Familiarity with container registries (e.g., Harbor)
- Experience scanning container images for vulnerabilities - Security & DevSecOps
- Experience implementing SAST/DAST and pipeline-based security scanning
- Understanding of pipeline security controls and best practices
- Experience managing access controls, audit logging, and compliance requirements - Observability & Operations
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor)
- Experience with log aggregation solutions (e.g., Loki) - General Development & Architecture
- Familiarity with microservices architecture
- Experience with languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or Go
The following will be considered Assets:
- Cloud & Platform Knowledge
- Understanding of Azure fundamentals: resource groups, networking, storage, identity
- Familiarity with Azure CLI and Azure Portal
- Deploying and managing applications on Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO)
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or ARM templates
- Relevant certifications in
- DevSecOps
- GitLab
- Openshift
- Cyber Security
- and\or Cloud
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code
- Knowledge of open-source principles and technologies
- Experience with Cloud security policies
Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills are required, and a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, peers, and management. Ideally, you will be flexible and adaptable to changing business priorities. Knowledge of project management methodology and procedures, IT, and security policies, ITIL processes in Government are also assets.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 14
Salary Range: $2,912.93 - $3,547.06 Bi-Weekly
