About Our Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Market Development, the Travel Media Specialist is responsible for leading the strategic development, promotion and delivery of Nova Scotia travel media/influencer programs and partnerships. The Travel Media Specialist advises on travel media marketing strategies, programs, client management, business practices and media trends which position Nova Scotia as a leading tourism destination.
Primary Accountabilities
Specific initiatives include:
- contributing to the development of market plans and strategies;
- assessing and recommending travel media relations opportunities;
- implementing multi-level programs and activities;
- project and budget management;
- the administration of service delivery contracts;
- negotiating and leading partnerships related to travel media activity.
Specific duties include:
- program development and evaluation;
- representing Tourism Nova Scotia at media marketplaces, media events, conferences, media meetings, press trips, and on intergovernmental and industry advisory committees, as required; facilitating relationships with tourism industry operators and clients from both national and international markets;
- preparing and delivering a variety of industry and government communication materials and presentations;
- fostering a broad network of strategic partners and stakeholder contacts providing outreach, advice and education.
The incumbent recommends policies, strategies and programs that are appropriate to meeting the objectives of Tourism NS and the province.
Qualifications and Experience
You bring with you a Bachelors’ degree in Tourism, Business, Public Relations or Marketing plus five (5) years related experience in sales/marketing and program development and implementation.

You exercise diplomacy, sound judgement, and have strong relationship building skills. You possess exceptional organizational, budgeting, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. You are self-directed, take initiative, and value creativity in a team environment. You have sound experience using Microsoft programs.
You must posses a valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence
Assets for this role include:
- Destination marketing experience/sales experience.
- Experience working with travel writers/contents creators.
- Experience working with partners in a tourism capacity to collaborate on projects and offer advice.

Working Conditions
You will be required to travel throughout the province to host media events which may take place outside of normal business hours.

Pay Grade: PR 13
Salary Range: $2,556.10 - $3,107.16 Bi-Weekly
